They have a selection of male, woman and even kid voices to pick from and their DJ drops start from 20 (or 3 for 50). thats when i know i have a serious piece of software on my hands. Their microphones, processors and FX are amongst the finest in the company which makes sure that you are entrusted a punchy DJ drop that sticks out. When people give me comments like that, and i'm not even a DJ. Last weekend i went to a friends party and left a couple of CD's i had made with traktor, my friend text me last night saying " listening 2 cd's u gave me. Thats why i built my present system so i can get the best from traktor. IMHO traktor is the best out there, and also IMHO for traktor to work flawlessly you need POWER the more the better. so i bought it, then when TRAKTOR DJ STUDIO 2 came out i bought it too, and thankfully i made the grace period to upgrade to 2.5 i messed about with that for a couple of weeks. ATHLON XP1600.Īnd he got me a copy of PCDJ RED. Then a few weeks later, i bumped into an old friend, and he had a PC too. 5 minutes later he had d/loaded a mixing software that i can't even think of the name. was if you could mix music on it like a DJ. so i said to him that the only way he would get me to use a PC. until one night i went to visit my young brother (who is an avid PC user).Īnd that night he was giving me a bit of a ribbing about why i am so negative towards PC users. even after this course i had no interest in using a PC. Then on feb 2001 out of boredom i took a college course for PC installation and troubleshooting. where i stay there is a stigma about PC users.( weirdo's). I only use traktor to make my own CD mixes.Īt the beginning of 2001, you wouldn't have seen me anywhere near a PC.
I'm going to tell you all a story, and i'll start off by admitting that i'm not a DJ. Plus Traktor has prooved itself to be totally rock solid over the last 12 months. I now use the Faderfox controller, but I survived for over six months getting tight mixes just using the keyboard.) This means I simply don't have to carry as much stuff.
The beauty of Traktor is that you can get great results straight from the keyboard. My whole reason for going to an mp3 based solution in the 1st place was to Travel lighter. Quite simply, my old PC based Red/FX rig was just getting too big, I was carrying more stuff than when I used to work with CD's.
So this meant I was carrying a very big flightcase containing a mixer / controller / USB soundcard / external hardrive plus all the leads / hubs / PSU's that go with it. The reason I no longer use these programmes has got more to do with why I went digital rather than their performance.īoth the two programmes above perform well, but to get the most out of them you do need the 19" DMC or DAC1 controllers. FX was super buggy, but I believe is is now reliably stable. Red is a good stable workhorse with a minimal learning curve. I'm also a registered owner of PCDJ Red (the old version), & PCDJ FX. I think I've trotted out this story before, but it explains why Traktor works for me.
